Unincorporated Association Constitution
CONSTITUTION OF THE ASSOCIATION FOR FIREWORK LEGISLATION REFORM (AFLR)
ARTICLE I: NAME

The name of this unincorporated association shall be the Association for Firework Legislation Reform, hereinafter referred to as AFLR.

ARTICLE II: OBJECTIVES
The objectives of AFLR shall be:

1. To advocate for responsible and sensible legislation regarding the sale, distribution and use of fireworks.
2. To promote public safety and awareness in the handling and use of fireworks.
3. To engage with The Firework Working Group, legislative bodies, government agencies, and other relevant stakeholders to reform existing firework laws and regulations.
4. To provide a platform for organizations to collaborate and share ideas on firework legislation reform.

ARTICLE III: MEMBERSHIP

1. Membership in AFLR shall be open to individuals, advocates, organizations, and entities that support the objectives of the association.
2. Membership categories may include but are not limited to: Associates, Supporters and Advocates.
3. All members shall have the right to participate in general meetings and vote on association matters.
4. No member may commit the association to any contract or expense without consent of the body of members and all expenses must be funded in advance.
5. Membership in AFLR is at the discretion of the Executive Committee.

ARTICLE IV: GOVERNANCE
​
1. AFLR shall be governed by an Executive Committee, consisting of elected officers. Initially the founding members to serve a term of 3 years.
2. The officers shall include a Chairman and an Executive Committee.
3. The Executive Committee shall be responsible for making decisions on behalf of AFLR, managing finances, and implementing the objectives of the association.
4. Following the initial 3 year period officers shall be elected by the general membership and serve a term of 3 years. They may be re-elected for subsequent terms.
5. The Executive Committee may establish subcommittees as needed to address specific tasks or issues related to the objectives of AFLR.
6. The Executive Committee will invite and receive contributions and raise funds where appropriate, to finance the work of the association, and to open a bank account to manage such funds.

ARTICLE V: FINANCE
​
1. All monies received by or on behalf of the Association shall be applied to further the aim of the Group and for no other purpose.
2. Any bank accounts opened for the Association shall be in the name of the Association.
3. Any cheques issued or digital payments shall be signed/made by the President or Treasurer.
4. The Association shall ensure that its accounts are audited or independently examined every year.

ARTICLE VI: MEETINGS
​
1. AFLR Executive Committee shall hold regular general meetings to discuss association matters, share updates, and plan activities.
2. Special meetings may be called by the Executive Committee or by a petition of 51% of the membership.
3. Notice of meetings, including the agenda, shall be provided to all members in advance.

ARTICLE VII: AMENDMENTS
​
1. Amendments to this constitution may be proposed by any member and shall be considered at a general meeting.
2. A two-thirds majority vote of members present at the meeting shall be required to approve amendments.

ARTICLE VIII: DISSOLUTION
​
In the event of the dissolution of AFLR, any remaining assets shall be distributed to organizations with similar objectives, as determined by the Executive Committee.

ARTICLE IX: EFFECTIVE DATE
​
This constitution shall take effect upon approval by a two-thirds majority vote of the members present at a general meeting.
